INCPAS Members Ring NASDAQ Closing Bell

INDIANAPOLIS – INCPAS members Tony A. Schoen, CPA, with First Savings Financial Group, Inc., the holding company for First Savings Bank, F.S.B. in southern Indiana, and Doug York, CPA, with Rodefer Moss & Co PLLC recently participated in the NASDAQ Stock Market closing ceremony, where members of its board of directors and executive management rang the NASDAQ Stock Market closing bell on March 23, 2009. Both Schoen and York serve on the F.S.B. board of directors.

Schoen actively and ardently supports the initiatives of the Society. He is a four-year member of the INCPAS Emerging Leaders Alliance and has served as vice chair of the governance and leadership task force. He enthusiastically encourages students to enroll in accounting programs, sit for the Exam, and join INCPAS in campus presentations at high school and colleges around the state.

Schoen serves as assistant controller at F.S.B. He has been instrumental in strengthening internal controls and process efficiencies, and establishing an investment subsidiary that better managed the bank's investment portfolio and reduced income taxes.

York has been a member of INCPAS for several years. Most recenlty he participated as a Legislative Key Person as an advocate for the CPA profession.

Last October, First Savings Financial Group completed its initial public offering in connection with the Bank’s conversion from the mutual to stock form of organization. F.S.B. currently has seven offices in the Indiana communities of Clarksville, Jeffersonville, Charlestown, Sellersburg, Floyds Knobs and Georgetown.

Currently, more than 7,000 CPAs in public practice, industry, government and education are members of the Indiana CPA Society. The organization functions as an advocate for the profession through education, public awareness, government relations and promotion of high ethical standards. Programs and services offered by the Society are designed to meet the needs identified for its diverse membership. INCPAS serves the public interest as well as its members.
