Two CPA Profession Leaders to Visit Indianapolis on Oct. 30
INDIANAPOLIS — Two leaders of the CPA profession in the United States, Barry Melancon of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Gregory Johnson of the National Association of Black Accountants, will be in Indianapolis on Thursday, Oct. 30. Melancon is presenting a professional issues update to the Indiana CPA Society’s Leadership Cabinet and Emerging Leaders Alliance from 1-3 p.m. while Johnson is participating on a panel for the Society’s Ethnic Diversity Summit from 7:30-10 a.m..
Both events will be held at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre in downtown Indianapolis. The media is invited to attend either or both sessions, and both Melancon and Johnson will be available for interviews after their respective sessions. Melancon will be available until approximately 4 p.m. and Johnson will be available for several hours before departing Indianapolis. Barry Melancon, CPA has been the president and CEO of the AICPA since 1995. The AICPA is the national professional association for the CPAs with approximately 330,000 members. With more than 25 years experience in the profession, Melancon previously served as the executive director of the Louisiana Society of CPAs and as a partner in a small Louisiana CPA firm. He is a member of the AICPA delegation to the International Federation of Accountants and most recently served as a member of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Advisory Committee on the Auditing Profession.

Gregory Johnson was named executive director and COO of NABA in November 2007. The Greenbelt, Md.-based organization represents more than 10,000 minorities nationwide who work in the fields of accounting, consulting, finance, tax and information technology. Prior to joining NABA, Johnson worked for Grant Thornton International from 2006-07 and in several roles for the AICPA from 1990-2006 including serving as manager of minority initiatives. He began his career in the CPA profession with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
