Dave Shatkowski joined the Indiana CPA Society in March 1998 as vice president - communications. He is the editor of CPA IN Perspective magazine, INCPAS e-Perspective e-newsletter, and other INCPAS publications. He oversees the department responsible for branding and public relations programs, media relations, publication editing and management, graphic design, web site content, student initiatives, marketing, sponsorships and advertising.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1988 where he majored in journalism and minored in business. Shatkowski also attended Purdue University, West Lafayette, for two years. He completed the curriculum in association management through the Institutes for Organization Management in 2002.
Shatkowski served on the Communications Track Planning Task Force for the AICPA & CPA/SEA Interchange Conference from 1998-2000, and from 2001-04 was a member of the board for the Indiana University Kelley School of Business Alumni Club of Indianapolis. He is currently a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the American Society of Association Executives, and the Indiana Society of Association Executives.
He has more than 19 years experience in the communications profession. Prior to the Society, Shatkowski worked for over eight years as director of communications for U.S. Diving, Inc., the national governing body for Olympic springboard and platform diving. There he was the editor of Inside USA Diving magazine and coordinated media services at national and international diving competitions including the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. He also wrote for two newspapers - the Post-Tribune in Northwest Indiana and the Indiana Daily Student at Indiana University, and completed a public relations internship with the U.S. Canoe and Kayak Team.
During his INCPAS tenure, the Society's communications department has received several awards including Best Total Communications Program from the Indiana Society of Association Executives in 2001 and 2004, and Best Magazine in 2005.
