IRS Moves Comment Period for Tax Reporting Proposal to June 1
The IRS received requests from the AICPA and other groups to extend the comment deadline for the Uncertain Tax Positions Reporting Proposal until after busy season. Comments can be e-mailed here.

Legislative Session Adjourns

The General Assembly adjourned sine die on March 14. Listed below is legislation of special interest that INCPAS monitored during the 2010 session.

SEA 356: (Passed) Professional licensing; allows licensing boards to order the Attorney General to obtain a cease and desist order against an individual practicing without a license.

SEA 23: (Passed) State and local administration; delays the implementation of the new unemployment tax structure.

SJR0001: (Passed) Circuit breakers and other property tax matters; places property tax questions on the ballot in November 2010.

HB 1001: (Passed) Government ethics; changes methods lobbyists use to report gift and entertainment expenses.
