INDIANA: Indiana's Business Climate Among the Best in the Nation
Site Selection magazine ranked Indiana sixth overall in its 2011 business climate rankings, based on feedback from national real estate executives and a review of Indiana's economic development record. This ranking comes after Area Development magazine rated Indiana's business climate best in the Midwest and fifth overall in the United States.
FAF Webcast Focuses on Private Company Reporting Improvements
Important opportunities for INCPAS members: the Financial Accounting Foundation will host a live webcast on Nov. 18 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. EST on its proposed Plan to Establish the Private Company Standards Improvement Council. The FAF also will host three roundtables on the topic early next year. INCPAS members are encouraged to continue to express their opinions to the FAF regarding its recent proposal.

Tax Return Preparers Can Now Renew PTINs for the 2012 Season
The IRS announced on Oct. 20 the preparer tax identification number registration system is open to accept renewals. Preparers are required to renew their PTINs annually and must do so before Jan. 1, 2012. The IRS directs return preparers who obtained their PTINs by creating an online account to renew their PTINs at irs.gov/ptin. AICPA Works to Improve Code of Professional Conduct
The AICPA is unveiling a user-friendly code of professional conduct. The restructuring effort began several years ago after concerns that the code was inconsistent, and it was difficult to navigate through the many provisions. The codification is expected to be available in a web-based platform, which further enhances the quality and ease of use. |
