AICPA Strengthens Call for Independent Board for Private Companies
The AICPA Governing Council overwhelmingly approved a resolution that sends a strong message urging the Financial Accounting Foundation to adopt the Blue Ribbon Panel's recommendations for an independent, standard-setting board for private companies. If FAF continues to pursue its current proposal, the AICPA board of directors will look at other solutions to address the needs of private companies.

Tax Professionals Should Prepare Now for New e-File Rules
The IRS has urged tax professionals and firms that do not have Electronic Filing Identification Numbers (EFINs) to obtain them now in order to meet new e-file requirements for 2012. Starting in January 2012, any paid preparer or firm that reasonably anticipates preparing and filing 11 or more Form 1040 series returns, Form 1041 returns, or a combination of the two.
AICPA Announces Reduced Wait Time for CPA Exam Results
Exam scores will be released earlier and more frequently. The change is in response to a common request from test takers since the Exam went from a pencil-paper format to a computerized format in 2004. The AICPA prepared a table outlining the target release dates of scores. |
