Becoming a CPA

Indiana CPAs must meet the following rigorous standards and licensing requirements:
  1. Complete at least 150 hours of education from an accredited college program
  2. Pass the Uniform CPA Examination
    • Regarded as the most rigorous of all professional certification exams, the 14-hour CPA Exam has four sections:
      1. Auditing and Attestation
      2. Financial Accounting and Reporting
      3. Regulation
      4. Business Environment and Concepts
  3. Acquire two years of real-world work experience
    • Experience constitutes the use of accounting, attest, compilation, management advisory, financial advisory, tax or consulting skills
    • Experience may be gained through employment in government, business and industry, academia or public practice
    • Experience must be verified by a licensee
