CPAs Lead the Way
It’s important for CPAs to serve on local non-profit boards of directors. INCPAS members and Indiana’s leading CPAs have the opportunity to uphold the integrity of the profession and enhance the value of the designation through not-for-profit board service.
Board service helps develop important leadership skills and often will generate new business. Training is an essential component to getting on the right board and ensuring that your time is spent in the most effective and efficient manner.
This spring, INCPAS is offering is offering a members-only, free, training to help members learn the ins and outs of non-profit board service.
Recognizing that a single training would not be appropriate for all levels of staff, the Society developed a multilevel curriculum in partnership with McKenzie Scott Lewis of the MSL Group, LLC, for staff at varying levels to gain important tools for future board service.
The Making of a Board Member: Beginner (staff with little to no board experience) May 10 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.: Attendees will learn how to research, evaluate, identify and select the right board for them. Additionally, attendees will learn about the roles and responsibilities of serving on a board.
The Making of a Board Member: Intermediate (staff with some board experience) May 10 from 1-4 pm.: Attendees will learn how to be effective board members and how to address common board challenges.
