Note: Our spring CPA IN Perspective magazine is digital — keep an eye out for new articles in our upcoming communications. As many of you know, earlier this year our good friend Adam Krupp announced his resignation as Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR). I was honored when shortly after, Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed me to the role, a decision that recognizes the strength of the organization we have built at DOR and a commitment to preserving our unique culture. Three years ago, I was fortunate to be invited to join DOR as chief operating officer. I have had the pleasure of working alongside our amazing team to find innovative ways to improve our overall organization—systems, processes, relationships and culture—in order to provide best-in-class customer service to our fellow Hoosiers. Since then, we have dramatically improved our culture and organizational performance, as evidenced by being named one of the IndyStar’s “Top Workplaces in 2019.” We have also made impressive strides in technological modernization through Project NextDOR. With the successful launch of Rollout 1 in September 2019, we are well underway with our once-in-a-generation journey to transform our tax processing systems. I am also proud of the work we have done in building new lines of communications and partnerships with the Indiana CPA Society and its nearly 7,500 members. We believe you play a critical role in serving Hoosier taxpayers and ensuring compliance with all Indiana tax laws. You are an invaluable partner in our quest to serve the great State of Indiana. You are also a critical source of information for our team on tax processing inefficiencies and identification of system and service improvements. On behalf of our entire team, thank you for what you are doing to help us on our journey. I have enjoyed the last three years with DOR as much as any in my life, and I am honored to be provided the opportunity to continue to work alongside my DOR team members and the tax professional community to keep serving Indiana and all the Hoosiers who count on us. Our amazing team has accomplished a tremendous amount, thanks in part to your continued support and willingness to work with us to better serve Hoosier taxpayers. But there is still much left to do. I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together. For more information on Commissioner Grennes, visit the DOR's website.
