As 2022 comes to a close, it’s clear this decade will prove to be one of significant change, challenge, growth and opportunity for INCPAS members.
While this year offered a sense of increased normalcy, many of the impacts of 2020 and 2021 are still felt across the business community, continuing to position CPAs as business leaders and advisors. We are proud to continue working alongside you to navigate these evolving times together. But before we welcome 2023, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating these achievements of note from 2022:
Students in Indiana Can (Finally!) Begin Sitting for the CPA Exam earlier
The 120-to-Sit rule change has been an INCPAS advocacy priority for years; 2022 saw these efforts finally come to fruition. On November 2, 2022, this historic rule change officially went into effect. Indiana has now joined 47 other jurisdictions that have made the path to sit for the CPA Exam easier. In addition to reducing the credit hour requirement to sit, the rule removes CPA Exam section names and windows to allow for continuous testing and the launch of the new CPA Exam in 2024.
While 150 credit hours is still required for licensure, this rule change means many accounting students will be eligible prior to graduation. We expect this opportunity to help support a faster track to licensure, boost Indiana’s competitiveness for attracting and/or retaining talent and play a role in overall efforts to expand the talent pipeline.
More Indiana High School Students Are Learning About the CPA Profession and Its Possibilities
This year’s Spring and Fall CPA Week were our most successful yet! 71 INCPAS members gave 111 presentations, introducing 2,636 high school students to the CPA profession. Presenters shared their favorite parts of their jobs, what a day in their work life looks like and what to expect on the path to becoming a CPA. Even more exciting: over the course of CPA Week our high school membership numbers doubled! This free membership option connects students with information about the CPA profession, accounting programs throughout Indiana, scholarships, networking and job shadowing opportunities and more. We’re thrilled to see this important membership group continue to grow, and it’s all thanks to members like you who give their time to connect with the future of our profession.
Nearly 900 Members Are Making New Connections and Participating in Customized Collaborative Learning
In a continued effort to connect members, we launched INCPAS Member Sections in 2022 to give you a new way to network with your peers. These topic-based sections are designed for you to share ideas, successes and challenges with other members to help avoid “reinventing the wheel” as you navigate your career. We’re thrilled to see these sections continue to grow into 2023 with exclusive resources and opportunities to connect.
Thank you for being a part of our 2022, and cheers to a successful 2023 ahead!
