Executive Director, GEO Foundation
INCPAS member with a passion for making a difference in students' lives
What keeps you up at night?
Lately, unpacking! We’ve moved into a new house, deciding to downsize after 25 years.
What made you decide to become a CPA?
I’ve always loved math, puzzles and logic games. I knew when I took my first few accounting courses I’d found a natural fit.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the profession?
CPAs can practice in so many different areas. Find your passion and your career will feel so much more rewarding! I realized for me, finding a cause I am passionate about has made such a difference. GEO Foundation has a network of charter schools in highly impoverished areas of the country. Our mission is my passion: “Beat Poverty!”.
How do you unwind after a busy day at the office?
A walk and a glass of wine.
How do you think the profession will be different in five years?
We will continue to become more and more involved in strategy and business solutions through analytics. Transactional work is so automated and integrated, our time will continue to be more consultative in nature.
What’s your favorite app and why?
Prime Now – saves so much time!
What’s on your desk right now?
My computer. Tax returns for review. Also, a sign “I’m sorry for whatever I said before I had my coffee,” and of course, my coffee cup!
