Parker Collignon
Audit Senior – Deloitte
Congrats on passing
the CPA Exam
as a High Grade
Candidate! What is
your best CPA Exam
study tip?
Be diligent in your preparation!
“Fail to prepare and prepare to
fail” is a hard truth when it comes
to the CPA Exam. It is important
to develop solid study routines
and put forth your best effort
throughout the whole process.
The journey is well worth it.
Where are you in your photo?
I’m at Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington state. This particular area is named Paradise—they call it that for a reason!
You are part of the INCPAS Young Pros Leadership Academy (YPLA). What has been your favorite part of the cohort so far?
YPLA forces me to think about my professional development in ways I typically do not think about in my day-to-day. I appreciate the program’s focus on “soft skills” like communication, emotional intelligence and personal branding. It’s nice to take part in these eminence-building activities in a peer group.
Why should aspiring CPAs get involved with INCPAS?
INCPAS is a great outlet for networking opportunities, educational resources and CPE (like YPLA), community engagement, and staying aware of policy and regulatory changes in the profession.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I love the problem-solving required. There are always complex and challenging issues that arise, and it is rewarding to work through them with my audit teams. I also enjoy serving our clients and providing them with the best possible experience.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the profession?
Do your best to develop your credibility and brand early on. Network, earn your CPA license and focus on delivering quality work. It’ll only help grow your own confidence along with others’ confidence in you.
What is the best book you’ve read lately?
“Thinking Fast and Slow” by the late Daniel Kahneman.
How do you unwind after a busy day? Any hobbies?
I like to hit the gym or go for a run. I played college tennis, so challenging my body and mind is ingrained. The physical and mental health benefits of exercise are immense, and it always helps me to recharge.
